Group Fitness - Class Descriptions

Our goal is to provide well-balanced classes in each time slot. We follow the ACSM guidelines for cardio, strength, and flexibility. We design classes to care for your body, mind, and spirit. Thank you for joining us. Please participate in classes at your own fitness level. If a class name has a #, it means you need to pick up a ticket at the front desk.

BOOT CAMP: A total body workout focusing on body-weight exercises and camaraderie!  This is an experience unlike any other fitness class you have taken!  Come join the Sergeant for a workout that is fun and effective!  Be prepared to head outdoors occasionally, weather permitting. CARDIO BLAST/SIMPLY CARDIO: Shake it loose and come party with us. Cardio training for the whole class using varied class format. End with a nice cool-down stretch. STEP2IT: A low impact class that involves stepping on an adjustable bench. Stepping tones and conditions those trouble spots-hips, thighs and rears-while providing a challenging cardiovascular workout. Choose your own level by simply adjusting the height of your step. Safe, fun and effective.  ULTRA CARDIO: A 30 minute high intensity workout for intermediate to advanced participants. This class includes running and other challenging training methods. CARDIO/FLEX FUSION: You asked for it.  A fusion of cardio using the step, floor and more combined with a strength segment for a total body, time efficient workout!  CARDIO SCULPT/ POWERSET CARDIO:  These classes combine a cardio workout and some muscle conditioning using bands, dumbbells or PowerFlex bars  in one hour!  A high energy, fun and efficient workout.  FAT BLASTER INTERVALS:  This class incorporates a variety of cardio moves at higher intensity levels followed by recovery periods.  Interval training is one of the best conditioning formats for the cardiovascular system and weight loss.  MULTI-STEPThis fun, challenging class involves all the step moves you love on two or more steps!  This class may be a little challenging for the beginners. DANCE!: Come and get your groove on!  Every week is a different DANCE! experience including Salsa, Belly Dance, African, World Sweat, Jazz and Hip Hop!  No experience necessary, just the desire to workout to a variety of moves and music.  This class is great for developing balance, coordination, and cardio, depending on the format.  Bring a friend and plan on having a good time.  Men and women welcome and partners not required. DRILL MAX :  This is a high energy class combining a variety of easy to follow cardio drills and strength moves to really rev up your metabolism! [Return to Schedule]

FOREVER FIT: Fitness class designed for Seniors. Class will work on the fitness skills that seniors need to function at a high level.  These skills include agility, balance, fall-prevention, bending and lifting, hand-eye coordination, grip strength, flexibility and real-life strength.  The certified instructors work with physical therapists to identify exercises that will help seniors lead an energetic and independent lifestyle. H.I.T. STRENGTH:  High Intensity Training with an emphasis on strength.  This is a non-traditional strength class using medicine balls, weights, body weight and lots of sweat. [Return to Schedule]

ONCORE:  Improve your quality of movement with this exciting and innovative class.  Core Reebok is a dynamic strength and conditioning program that focuses on developing total body power and balance.  Say good-bye to endless crunches and hello to strong, lean abs, torso, and core muscles.  Central to the program is the Reebok Core Board, the first ever exercise board offering three-dimensional action to improve your balance and core “power.”  [Return to Schedule]

PILATES:  Pilates is a mind and body system of flowing movements that strengthen and stretch the muscles and jointsPilates I is an entry level class and Pilates II is for those with some Pilates experience.  Yoga/Pilates is an introductory class of yoga and pilates. [Return to Schedule]

POWERFLEX©  - A total body barbell workout. This easy-to-learn class will improve your body composition. Increase muscle and metabolism in a fun group lifting class. Improve your body tone, muscle definition, strength and endurance. Great for all ages and fitness levels. [Return to Schedule]

PUMP PARTYCombination cardio step and PowerFlex in one exciting class format. [Return to Schedule]

POWERPACK - This is a power-packed module combination full of energy and fun!  One module is a cardio-blast class with lots of variety.  The other module is a PowerFlex class loaded with encouragement and coaching to help you achieve your potential.  Take both for a true PowerPack.  [Return to Schedule]

PURE MUSCLE/POWER MUSCLE: This class is designed to strengthen and define the major muscle groups of the body using hand weights and a variety of resistance equipment. [Return to Schedule]

SIMPLY CARDIO:  Experience a variety of cardio class formats. A simple and effective cardiovascular training for all levels.  Not fancy…just Effective & Fun! [Return to Schedule]

SPINNING©: The original indoor cycling program by Johnny G©. This unique cycling experience combines determination and imagination to create the ultimate fitness journey. Catch the excitement! Bring a water bottle; we provide the sweat towels. Pick up your number at the front desk to attend class. Come to your first class early for proper bike set-up and instruction. Beginners welcome. If you can ride a bike, you are all set for Spinning. [Return to Schedule]

SPIN & SCULPT:  The best of both worlds!  Spin and get the heart rate going along with a segment of strength conditioning using tubes, stability balls and more.  This is a fusion of two great workouts!  SPIN & STRETCH:  A great cardio workout combined with extra stretches designed especially for spinners!  This is a fusion class you don’t want to miss. STRETCH & RELAX:  This class includes basic stretches that can be easily adapted to anyone.  Breathing and relaxation techniques finish the class to refresh and balance the mind and body. [Return to Schedule]

TARGET ZONE EXPRESS:  Spend 30 minutes focusing on toning your muscles.  The class concentrates on upper arms, hips and abdominals. [Return to Schedule]

WATER FITNESS:  All the benefits of a well-rounded fitness program in The Broadwater’s Natural Hot Springs pools.  An ideal program for those with arthritis or recovering from injuries.  AQUALOGIX:  An innovative water workout using Handbells and Leg Shapers with the natural properties of the water.  It’s a great workout, so give it a try! WOMEN'S FITNESS AND LADIES' NIGHT: These fitness classes are perfect for the "mature" woman who prefers to exercise in a private women's-only program. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are cardio-based classes. Tuesday and Thursday are muscle/stretch classes. Join us for fun exercise and great company. [Return to Schedule]

YOGA:  Yoga is a practice that unites the mind, body and spirit.  Iyengar Yoga emphasizes precision in poses.  Hatha Yoga is classic yoga combining poses and breath work to enhance strength, flexibility and relaxation.  Anusara Yoga is Hatha Yoga that focuses on creative freedom, diversity and individualism.  It is a “celebration of the heart.” Yoga for Women is Hatha Yoga specifically targeted to the needs of women’s bodies including prenatal and postnatal women.  Vinyasa Yoga is a flow yoga format. NOTE:  Lead Instructors are indicated on the schedule.  Occasionally there will be substitute instructors teaching classes.  Classes maintaining numbers of 8 or less may be subject to cancellation.
